How to help the Deerfield Beach Rapa Nui Reef II project.

People from all over are asking how they can help turn lemons into lemonade and rebuild the ill-fated Rapa Nui Reef.

The folks who made the first reef happen have come up with an idea to create more moai heads and crane them down to the top (formerly the bottom) of the barge.

Philanthropist Margaret Blume, and artist Dennis MacDonald are working with Pavan of Dixie Divers and Jim “Chiefy” Mathie on a plan; the Woman’s Club is collecting donations and helping raise the funds needed (donations are tax deductible under the Woman’s Club 501-c3 status).

The donations will be used to recreate some moai figures and attach them to the sunken barge.  One is all ready for attachment; it just needs to get down there!

Anyone wishing to donate to help build Rapa Nui Reef II can send a check made out to The Woman’s Club of Deerfield Beach (please put Rapa Nui II in the memo) and send it to

Rapa Nui's Success in Deerfield Beach

Everyone who had anything to do with this awesome project came away with a feeling of wonder, a thankfulness for new friends and the appreciation that something special can be done when one person has a dream and many make it come true.

Something big indeed did go down in Deerfield Beach and we all were changed for the better because of Margaret, Robert, Dennis, and Pavan's vision.

We shouldn't be sad, we should celebrate their courage and dedication and we should cheer their daring and their dream.

Thank you Margaret for something big going down in my life and for the opportunity to be a small part of your wonderful achievement.
