Some Clarification

I was informed that the most significant decreases in the reserve occurred under City Manager Mike Mahaney not Burgess Hanson.  And, the things that have further decreased the reserve are that the BSO Fire and Police have over a 3 million dollar increase this year and the fire pension recalculation (because people are living longer now the pensions will pay out longer and the pension funding had to be readjusted to reflect that) cost the city about 1.5 million.  None of which could have been predicted but had to be funded.

  1. From a percentage basis, meaning percentage of decrease when compared to total, Mr. Hanson is right up at the top of the list.

Remember, Fitch cited at least 6 different comments that were negative with respect to their evaluation of City Financial Management in there downgrade of City Bond ratings!

However, apparently the commission is going to blindly support Burgis so we can all go down with the sinking ship.

  3. IRS tax liens dog Deerfield candidate Coddington

Deerfield Beach City Commission candidate Ron Coddington’s past financial headaches aren’t behind him just yet.

Coddington declared bankruptcy in 2004, a public records search shows. He also accrued IRS tax liens of more than $800,000, which all have been satisfied.

“The bankruptcy was necessary primarily to divide the assets in a divorce … We were going to dissolve it anyhow,” said Coddington, who co-owned Team Land Development with his former wife. The business was also facing an insurance judgment against a bonding company of about $1 million, he said.

    1. This truly shows the dumb mentality of most of the D.B. residents. A person comments about a blog post that not only he disagrees with, but Fitch disagrees with as well, and some idiot decides to slam him personally. And another idiot in town feels we're not civil at meetings, obviously we're not civil on blog posts either. Which City Manager pushed to go with BSO Fire and which Commissioners didn't do their due diligence asking for our own Actuality to compare to BSO's. It's time to put the blame where it squarely belongs and that is with Burgess Hansen, Joe Miller, Ben Preston, Peggy Noland, Marty Popelsky and Bill Ganz.

    2. Most seem to agree that a number of D.B. residents are dumb, only we can't agree upon who they are, except various sides know it's the other side and not them. A person or persons comments about a blog post that not only he or she disagrees with, but also which Fitch, the local Channel 4 weatherman and Blinky the Toad (no, I am not referring to Capellini) disagrees with, and some idiot or idiots slam him or her personally, which burns the hell out of me even though I don't know why and, if I knew, I won't tell you because you may or may not be one of them, or maybe not. And another idiot or idiots in town feel we are not civil at meetings, blog posts, waiting in line at Publix, driving on Hillsboro Boulevard or picking our noses while at a stop light, why the nerve of it all, we should be civil even if dealing with a miserable bastard face pig whose views are not exactly like mine. Which City Manager burped at Duffy's and which Commissioners didn't do their due diligence when they decided to voluntarily join D.B.'s Monty Python Show, known as the Commission? It is time to put the blame where it squarely belongs, and that is with Ponce de Leon (he never should have found this hellish cesspool), the inventor of air conditioning (just encourages those who don't like their eyeballs to sweat to move here) and the manufacturers of ineffective psychotropic drugs (doesn't do the job it is supposed to do). Yes, Anonymous, I agree with you. And, I wonder why I get so many emails for my blog sent by Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous - it must be because you can't sleep, and is it any wonder with all the crazy people around?

  4. Dont take personal shots. Well then, why should we take financial advice from someone who owed the IRS $750K or had a networth of $525? Both of whom went BK.

Its not a personal shot to point out one's lack of merit in a particular subject.
